Job Responsibilities
The Hospice and Palliative Care Manager will supervise the daily activities and practices of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure the highest level of client care and satisfaction.
Job Requirements
- Directly supervises clinical activities, programs and other applicable professional/clerical staff
- Responsible for maintaining appropriate staff ratios; participates in the recruiting, hiring, orienting and termination of staff
- Responsible for ensuring competency and proficiency levels of staff as deemed appropriate for the position(s)
- Participates in client conferences and case management activities
Counsels staff appropriately and timely concerning areas of deficiency as well as areas of excellence - Conducts performance evaluations on assigned staff. Assists with development of new job standards as needed. Reviews and updates current job standards when indicated
- Actively involved in the development and implementation of the hospice marketing plan; participates in direct marketing/public relations activities on an ongoing basis
- Participates in budget preparation and stays within budget constraints; approves all invoices for care/services provided to client; develops cost saving approaches while ensuring quality care and services delivered
- Participates in short and long range planning for department
- Ensures client satisfaction through client visits, P.I. activities, and other measures as appropriate. Investigates and resolves all department complaints
- Submits written reports pertaining to department activities within specified time frames to the Director of Clinical Services
- Positively contributes to all phases of the Quality Assessment Performance Improvement (QAPI) program. Contributions may include; identification of problem area recommendations to address problem areas; data collection; attendance at periodic QAPI meetings or participation in performance improvement projects.
- Demonstrates a desire to set and meet objectives and to find increasingly efficient ways to perform tasks
- Completes work with accuracy and within specified time frames
Requires minimal supervision and is self-directed
Job Qualifications
• Current Massachusetts RN License
• BS in nursing or related field preferred
• 5 plus years nursing experience combination of Hospice & Home Care
• 3 plus years of managerial experience preferred
