Rehabilitative Services
Physical Therapy (PT)
Physical therapists help patients improve or restore their mobility, strength and motion. Our PTs also help teach patients to use walkers, canes, wheelchairs or prosthesis safely. We can provide home safety evaluations and fall prevention teaching. We specialize in working with persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and their families.
Occupational Therapy (OT)
Occupational therapists help patients relearn the activities of daily living, which include bathing, dressing, grooming and other activities involved in self-care. Community VNA’s OT staff have worked extensively with burn victims, persons with cognitive deficits, such as from a stroke and those with hand and upper extremity injuries or repair.
Speech and Language Therapy
Speech and language therapists help patients regain lost verbal skills or adopt new communication techniques.
Joint Replacement Therapy
Our physical therapy staff plays a vital role in helping patients fully recover from a joint replacement surgery such as hip or knee. Strengthening and stretching the new joint are critical initial treatments. They also assist the patient in learning to walk and climb stairs using a cane or walker. This skilled therapy is of great importance when healing from a knee or hip replacement.
