Other Services
The Elder Dental Program holds at least 2 free screening clinics per year. Clinics are free and open to anyone age 60 and over (participants must call to schedule an appointment). Clinics are typically held at a local council on aging and generally occur in the fall and spring.
At the free screening clinics, dentists will examine patients for problems with their teeth, gums, and dentures. Patients can ask questions and discuss their concerns directly with the dentists. Participants will also be screened for oral cancer and have an opportunity to have dentures professionally cleaned at no cost.
Dental hygienists & dental hygiene students will be on hand to talk with seniors about their oral health concerns and demonstrate ways to take care of teeth and dentures. A nutritionist will talk with participants about the role of nutrition in oral health and will give advice to those with chewing problems, dry mouth, medication interactions and other concerns.
Our spring 2009 Free Dental Screening clinic will be announced soon. You may click here to view information on our last screening. Check back on our website or contact elderdental@verizon.net for more detailed information.
